THE PROPERTY: The Cat Hill Ranch is a beautiful hunting/recreational ranch with good livestock production capabilities, located in Western New Mexico east of the village of Quemado. The ranch is accessed off of US Highway 60 that runs along the southern boundary for about two miles. The ranch is made up of the following lands:

- 2, 764 State Lease acres
- 160 BLM Permit acres
- 8269 Total acres, more or less
TERRAIN & VEGETATION: The topography of the ranch varies from fairly level grama grass flats to gently rolling hills that transition into broken canyon lands. Elevations range from approximately 7,600 feet from the top of Cat Hill to 7,100 feet near US Highway 60. Predominate forage grasses in the open country are blue grama, black grama, some sideoats grama, and western wheatgrass. winterfat and four-wing saltbush are also present, and these species provide winter browse for both livestock and wildlife. Juniper, pinon pine, and oak brush grow on the hills and down into the canyons and headers. The ranch is in an area that receives an average of 12 inches of precipitation annually with a growing season of about 150 days.
WATER RESOURCES: The ranch is very well watered from 3 windmills and 2 submersible wells. There are large water storage tanks at each well, each equipped with drinkers. Wells range in depth from 35' to 200' and produce good tasting water.
WILDLIFE/HUNTING: Wildlife flourishes on Cat Hill Ranch. The ranch is located in New Mexico Game Management Unit 12 and this year will receive 2 center-fire bull elk permits, 1 cow elk permit, and 1 either sex archery permit It is not uncommon to harvest bull elk scoring 330 to 350 and above, Boone & Crockett. In most years the ranch will receive 1 buck antelope permit. Mule deer are also present on the ranch. Also present on the ranch are bobcat, coyote. fox, and an occasional mountain lion.
IMPROVEMENTS: The ranch does not have a home. There is a log house, built in the early 1900's and remodeled in the 1970's, located near the community of Omega.
CARRYING CAPACITY: This ranch has historically ran 130 cows plus bulls for many years. The ranch would also work well for 275 to 325 yearlings during the growing season.
